Newsletter n° 38 (28th of October 2016)
People regularly ask us what they could do to help us, or to work for the centenary. In order to reply without delay to this question, the analysis of the requests made by Our Lady at Fatima, begun in the newsletters n° 36 and n° 37, will be temporarily interrupted. Because, from here on, we are one year away from the anniversary of the last apparition. It is important, therefore, not to delay in putting into place all the actions possible in order to celebrate this centenary in a fitting manner.
These actions have already been presented in the first newsletter. The different propositions have then been developed during the course of the newsletters. However, it would seem to be useful to go over them again.
The general priniciple is to do God’s will as expressed at Fatima by the voice of the Holy Virgin, namely: to work for the establishment in the world of the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
This devotion consists of five pratices : the daily recital of the Rosary, prayers and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners, the communion of reparation on the first Saturdays of the month in reparation for offenses against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, and wearing the scapular.
To accomplish God’s will it is necessary to make these five practices our own, and to spread them around us. This propagation can take place at different levels : personal, familial, parochial, diocesan, national.
On a personal level, everyone can do something, whatever their age, situation, condition, … The five practices do not demand any particular skills. Everyone can do them with the minimum of effort. To those who are just discovering them, we would advise starting with the easiest, namely the consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary : The little effort she asks for is that of preparing it. For this, consecrations are organised almost every month, the next being on the 8th of December, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a very good date to consecrate ourselves to Our Lady.
Wearing the scapular is just as easy to put into practise. It is « the sign of our consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary » said Sister Lucia to Father Rafferty (see newsletter n°21). Any priest can impose the scapular and the rite is described on this website. It is therefore very easy to have this done.
The communion of reparation on the first Saturdays of the month demands a little more effort. But, is it so difficult to devote one or two hours a month, knowing all the graces that can benefit us, particularly the very special assistance of Our Lady and the hour of our death for our salvation, if we do this for five consecutive months ?
The daily recitation of the Rosary (see newsletter n° 31) also requires a little effort. It can perfectly be done during the slack periods in the day, in particular on public transport to and from work. Rather than listen to our smartphone, why not take ten minutes to say our Rosary ?
Finally, the sacrifices in our everyday lives offered for the conversion of sinners don’t take up any time : we are, in any case, obliged to fulfill the duties of our state of life. The sacrifices simply demand an effort of willpower to accept them meekly, without impatience, and offering them for the conversion of sinners.
If we do all of this, we will have truly worked for the propagation of the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, admittedly on a limited scale, but we will have worked.
These different actions are all relatively easy to realise within the family, particularly the consecration of the family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the recitation of the Rosary with our family. This last practice is not as difficult to put into place as it seems. It is, above all, a question of perseverance. For families not in the habit of doing this, there is nothing to stop them from beginning with a decade of the Rosary then, little by little, adding on to make a whole Rosary.
For the other three practices, we should try to have the scapular imposed on our children, to invite them to come with us to Mass on the first Saturday of the month and to teach them to offer sacrfices for the conversion of sinners.
At the parish level, the centenary is an excellent occasion for suggesting to your priest that he consecrate his parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary (see newsletter n°22) and to establish the first Saturday of the month in the parish. Your request will bear fruits other than those you received on the personal and familial level. You can also organise the recitation of a decade or a Rosary for France (or for your own country).
Working at the diocesan level is not for everybody. Without doubt it is preferable that it passes by our parish priests, if they are themselves convinced of the necessity to spread this devotion. But you can pray for this intention, and so that they receive the graces necessary to do the right thing.
As for the national level, it seems difficult, today, to imagine a consecration by the government. However, the French bishops could consecrate France as the Portugese and Italian bishops did for their own country. (see newsletter n° 16)
Everything can be summed up in the following table :
The first three lines of the table do not present any particular difficulties. What a lovely gift we would make to Our Lady if we all could have worked at realising these different points ! It is surely one of the best ways of celebrating the centenary of the apparitions at Fatima.
For those who would like to do even more, you can pass on the newsletters, either by transferring them to all your family members or friends in your address book, or by printing them out to send to people who don’t have internet. You can also obtain posters, brochures or images to distribute. (order HERE) Finally, you can organise conferences to make known this devotion. If you are not a gifted speaker, ask us : we might be able to find you one.
In union of prayer in the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The Rosary can congratulate itself on a new victory. Monseigneur Oliver Dashe Doeme, Bishop of Maiduguri in Nigeria, has recognised that it is thanks to the Rosary that the Islamic movement, Boko Haram, was able to be driven back. Monseigneur Dashe stated in particular : « With the Rosary, we will be capable of expelling Boko-Haram from our diocese. With the intervention of the Mother of Jesus, whom I love so much, I am going to encourage many people to pray the Rosary and we are going to turn out Boko-Haram. And this is exactly what is happening. Most of the dioceses where Boko-Haram was present have regained their freedom and people are coming back to their homes. » (see http://reinformation.tv/boko-haram-rosaire-nigeria-jallais-60705-2/
Cap Fatima is pleased to have a new partner : the association Hozana (website : http://hozana.org/). Henceforth, we will have a page about this website, which, moreover, we recommend for the excellent work it does to incite us to prayer.
