Newsletter n°62 (30 October 2017)
With regard to exceptional phenomena occurring before the miracle of the sun, a friend has kindly pointed out that it would be more accurate to count four, rather than three (see newsletter n°12). For the crossing of the Red Sea by the Hebrews, pursued by the Egyptians, is also a phenomenon which defies the usual laws of nature and which took place over dozens of miles (the Red Sea has an average width of around 125 miles) and was witnessed by several thousands of people. Be that as it may, there were three or four phenomena of this kind before our time, phenomena unique in the history of mankind and which characterise an intervention by the Creator of the universe, Who alone can modify the laws of nature.
Moreover, concerning Fatima, it can be said that there were not one, but two exceptional miracles which authenticate the apparitions: the great Miracle of the Sun on the 13th of October 1917 and the miracle of the conflagration in the sky during the night of the 25th to the 26th of January 1938. These two miracles of an exceptional nature also have an added bonus: both of them were predicted, three months beforehand for the former, and the latter, twenty months beforehand.
Concerning the second phenomenon: even if many people persist in calling it an aurora borealis, it can’t be denied that it is unique by its sheer scale and by the latitudes over which it was spread. Moreover, the appearance of the sky was totally different from that of an aurora borealis, as much by the colour as by the general aspect of the widespread light: the phenomenon seemed to have been produced by a gigantic fire, the kind of appearance an aurora borealis has never had. Sister Lucia was convinced that it was nothing of the kind, as in her third memoir she writes: “It seems to me that if they [the astronomers] were to examine the thing carefully, they would see that it was not, and could not be, an aurora borealis, given the way in which it appeared.” (See newsletter n°20).
While the miracle of the 13th of October was analysed in detail (see in particular the book mentioned in newsletter n°61), the same is not true for the miracle of the conflagration in the sky. It would be worthwhile conducting a study just as detailed as those made for the Miracle of the Sun because, to our knowledge, it has never been done. (If any reader knows of one, would he kindly send us the reference.)
So as to be able, if not to undertake this, then at least to launch it, it would be particularly precious to have statements from those who observed the phenomenon. In 1938 anyone who was about ten years old would be around ninety today. Many of them will probably remember what they saw. It would be very useful to take statements from them before it’s too late.
The conflagration in the sky of January 1938 stretched over all of Europe, North Africa and over to the United States and Canada. Today, modern means, especially internet, allow us to reach very easily a great number of people over a vast distance. Subscribers to this newsletter represent several thousands of people spread out over almost all the countries of the planet, especially in all the countries where the phenomenon was visible. We are able, therefore, to gather many more statements than it was possible at the time of the event.
Also, all those who might know parents who had seen the phenomenon of the conflagration in the sky would greatly help the cause of Fatima by gathering their statements and sending them to us. The aim is to establish the most exhaustive compilation feasible and thereby be able to give the best possible description of the phenomenon.
In particular, it would be useful to have: the place where the person was, what he saw (colour, aspect, scope) and the how long he watched the phenomenon.
As for the people who were older in 1938 and who are probably now deceased, perhaps they have left an account of what they saw to their children or those close to them. It would also be very precious to have these statements.
It’s important to take a little trouble to show that this conflagration in the sky is a unique phenomenon in the history of mankind, as God used this miracle to authenticate His will, which he communicated to Lucia on the 13th of July 1917. Therefore, we should do everything in our power to show the reality of this miracle, as was done for the Miracle of the Sun.
Consecrations to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
At the end of this centenary, the President of Cap Fatima was able to go on a pilgrimage to Fatima and to place at the feet of Our Lady the names of all those who consecrated themselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary since the beginning of the project, as well as all the prayer intentions which were confided to us and which have been posted on the website. As for these intentions, we should continue to recite our Rosary for all those who have asked for our prayers.
The First Saturdays of the Month
The two series of first Saturdays of the month organised at the beginning of the year have now finished. But we should keep practising them in order to continue to atone for the outrages committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary and to obtain the conversion of sinners. Sister Lucia did this all her life, as she said:
Here is my way of meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary on the first Saturdays. First mystery: the angel Gabriel’s Annunciation to Our Lady. ( … ) The second month, I meditate on the second joyful mystery. The third, on the third, and so on, following the same method for meditating. When I’ve finished the five first Saturdays, I begin five others and I meditate on the sorrowful mysteries, then the glorious, and when I’ve finished them, I begin again with the joyful mysteries.
We should also continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to inspire the Holy Father to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, respecting the forms asked for by Our Lady. As well as this, don’t forget to make a communion of reparation on Saturday the 4th of November.
Letter of support to Cardinal Burke
After a few vicissitudes, we have received a reply from Cardinal Burke to the letter of support which was sent to him at the end of August with 1,100 signatures. Cardinal Burke was very appreciative of our support and thanks us for our prayers to this intention, according to the wish he expressed on the 19th of May (see newsletter n°52).
In union of prayer in the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
